The unit is much smaller, about 4” by 4”, uses minimal amount of energy, and is quiet. With the Apple TV you pay for what you want to watch, not what the Cable company wants you to watch. So how does it work?
Well, all you have to do is hook it up to your TV, and on to the Internet – either through wireless connection or standard network cable(Ethernet). Streaming Netflix and iTunes with Apple TV

The two main media sources you can access via the Apple TV are Netflix and iTunes. Not only can you access your Netflix Instant Queue, but you can search and browse by genre. With a $9-per-month subscription, you can stream an unlimited amount of Netflix’s streaming video content to your Apple TV. The user interface is one of the best interface that offers access to your Instant Queue, plus the ability to search and browse different categories. Your Instant Queue is laid about in a grid with box art, which is large enough to read even when we were sitting about 10 feet back.
